Henry R. Cornish, 92, of Lexington, widower of Georgia Lee Carson Cornish, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at St. Joseph East Hospital. Born in Versailles, he was the son of the late George Sr. and Nettie Sutherland Cornish. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired security police captain from the Bluegrass Army Depot, where he worked for 28 years. He was a member of Broadway Christian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Sharron C. Schedler, Lexington; three grandchildren, Rebecca J. Hatton, Michael H. Newton, and Casey N. Newton; seven great-grandchildren, Stepheanie and Sarah Lanham, Emma, Casey, Sierra and Courtney Newton, and Kevin Green; two great-great-grandchildren, Miguel Lanham and Meadow Welch; four nieces and nephews, Jerry Risk, Donald Cornish, Wanda Adkins, and Linda Nabors. Two brothers, Clarence Cornish and George Cornish Jr., and two sisters, Jane C. Smathers and Irma Risk, are deceased. Services were conducted May 19, 2003, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main Street. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
The grave is in the front of the cemetery turn left at the first fork and it is on the right just a short distance from the entrance.
