Charles McCann grew to adulthood in Milwaukie, Oregon, where as a young man he farmed for several years with his wife, Amy Hooper, whom he married at Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon (Sellwood District), on September 17, 1893. The couple had four sons. Later Charles became a general foreman with the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific Railroads. About 1910 the McCanns sold their Milwaukie farm and moved to Huntington, Oregon, where Charles took up a work assignment for the railroad. Later the family lived for many years at Dallas, Polk County, Oregon.
