INDEPENDENCE - Clorena Fay Darby Maddox, 77, of 363 Monmouth St., died Thursday in an Independence nursing home.

A native of Missouri, Mrs. Maddox homesteaded with her family in Oklahoma and came to the Mehama-Stayton area in 1946. She had lived in Independence five years. She was a member of the Baptist church.

She was preceded in death by 10 children and her husband of 54 years, Warren, in 1966.

Surviving are daughters Wilma White of Mehama and Della Tatlow of Independence; mother Jesstine Darby, Enid, Okla.; brothers Oliver Darby, Moline, Kansas, Thomas Darby, Yakima, Washington, Errol Darby, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Hugh Tipton Darby, Covington, Oklahoma; sister Ella Cline, Marshall, Okla.; 17 grand-children and 20 great-grand-children.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Parmenter mortuary. Burial will be in Dallas cemetery.

The family suggests contributions to the Cancer Society.
