James T. Bradley was born in the state of Kentucky December 1, 1834. When but 16 years of age he emigrated to Missouri where several years later he was married to Sylvia Ann Large. In the year 1854 he moved to Kansas settling in this locality and it was during those pioneer days that there were born to them, their four children. Mary E., William T., John D., and James A. Following a brief illness Mrs. Bradley died in the year 1862. Later Mr. Bradley was again married to Sciota Woodson which union was blessed with one child, Emma. In early life while a young man Mr. Bradley united with the Methodist church where he has always held his membership .... passed away, Tuesday afternoon, September 14, lacking but a few weeks of reaching the age of 86. He leaves two daughters, Mary E. Walton and Emma Lindsey, 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren .... Interment in the Larkinburg cemetery ....

James T. Bradley, pioneer resident of Jackson county, living two and a half miles east of Holton, died Tuesday afternoon at the age of 86. He was in the field cutting corn, when he was attacked by heart trouble and fell over. He died within an hour after being carried into the house ....
