Geraldine "Geri" (Girard) Fahy, (93) widow of Bernard L. Fahy Sr. died on Saturday (October 4, 2008) at St. Mary Home in West Hartford. She resided at 84 Orchard Street in Rockville, Connecticut at the time of her death.

The daughter of the late Eugene and Harriet (Courcelle) Girard, she was born in Rutland VT on March 15, 1915. She grew up in the Baker's Cove section of Groton. She was a graduate of Fitch High School, and a recipient of a college scholarship, but because of the Depression, the scholarship was not honored, so she worked for Max Pollack Mills and the F.W. Woolworth Cot, where she met her future husband. They settled in Rockville in 1940 where he was the manager of Woolworth Co. and they raised their five children there. She was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church and served for many gears as Eucharist Minister and a Religious Education teacher. She and her husband were members of the Couple's Club. Geri loved people and her home was always open to visitors, young and old. She enjoyed gardening, needle work and cooking, and served for many years as a den mother to the Cub Scouts. She also lectured for Weight Watchers, and enjoyed encouraging others to reach their goals. She also enjoyed her nights out with the sewing circle. Well into her eighties, she was still bowling and taking Tai Chi classes, and was ready to challenge anyone to a game of Scrabble.

She leaves a daughter, Sr. Mary Fahy, and three sons, Timothy and his wife Lynn, Gerard and his wife Catherine, and Christopher and his wife Carolyn, six grandchildren, Ellen, Ethan, Adam, Nathanial, Zoe Fahy, Amy Slavik and her husband John, and three great grandsons, Nicholas, Joseph, and Luke Slavik. She also leaves two stepsons, John and James Griffin, a stepdaughter Tara Griffin and one step granddaughter Kyra Griffin. Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her son Bernard Jr., a brother Eugene, and four sisters, Marie and Pauline Girard, Bernardette Corbet and Rita O'Connell and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 8 at 9 a.m. from the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard's Church, Rockville at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Rockville.
Relatives and Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 7 from 4-7:30 p.m.
