Levi and Celinda were among the eight founding members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Mentor, Saline Co., Kansas.
George Washington Gaumer was raised by Levi Shirar and his aunt Celinda (Allbaugh) Shirar, and was always considered the brother of the Shirar children. George's mother, Elizabeth Allbaugh (younger sister of Celinda Allbaugh)died a week after giving birth to George Washington Gaumer. . George's father, Peter Gaumer, was the nephew of Lydia (Gaumer)Shirar (Levi's mother). That would make Levi and George both "first cousins once removed" and "uncle/nephew by marriage".
