GRACEMONT Funeral for Lorene W. Newell, 90, Gracemont, will be at 2 p.m. today at Spring Creek Baptist Church, Gracemont, with Roger Willis, pastor, and Donna Bridges, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Newell died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, in Anadarko.

Burial will be in Gracemont Cemetery under direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko.

She was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Gracemont, to Alfred and Emilie Bauchman Shook. She attended Spring Creek and Gracemont Schools. She married Robert Jackson "Bob" Newell on April 10, 1937, in Spring Creek. He died Aug. 12, 2008. She worked on the family farm with her husband and helped take care of Spring Creek Cemetery. She was a homemaker and a seamstress. She was a lifelong member of Spring Creek Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school many years and helped with all church activities. She moved into town in Gracemont in January 2008.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nelda and John Tate, Gracemont; two sons and daughters-in-law: Jack and Alece Newell, Lawton; and Dennis and Donna Newell, Anadarko; grandchildren and their spouses: Brent and Paula Tate, Arcadia; Eric and Patti Tate, Gracemont; Ryan Tate, Oklahoma City; Mike and Traci Newell, and Lori Newell, all of Lawton; Kate and Bob Berg, Rogers, Ark.; Chris and Krystal Newell, and Nikki and Ryan Schneider, all of Minco; great-grandchildren: J. Dalton Newell, Barrett Newell, Mo Newell, Ry Schneider, Rody Schneider, Rett Schneider, Harmon Newell, Jason and Monica Wilke, and Lynnisa and Casey Dunn; great-great-grandchildren: Miller Wilke, Myah Wilke and Conelly Dunn; two sisters: Elsie Brummell and Lula Mae Hite, both of California; two special sisters-in-law: Beatrice Shook and Belva Shook, both of Gracemont; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Jeff Shook, Jim Shook, Tommy Shook, Herman Shook, J.E. Shook, Robert Shook and Henry Shook; and two sisters: Vinnie Shook and Betty Cowan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Commemorative Scholarship Fund at Gracemont High School, or Spring Creek Baptist Church or Spring Creek Cemetery.
