Desire Francis Lete, Sr. 60 years old died in the Spring Hill mine explosion south of Terre Haute, Indiana. The death occurred when a dynamite charge set off a major explosion, which rocketed through the mine, filling it with deadly carbon monoxide gas, smoke & dust.

Survived by the widow, Anna Ruth; one son, Desire Francis Lete, Jr., at home: two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Alsip and Mrs. Palmire Webber, both of Brazil, and several nieces, nephews and great nephews. He was a veteran of World War I. The body was taken to Callahan Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
