Rena Mae White, 83, of Cleveland died Sunday, Oct.1 2006. at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Wednesday at Ray Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Hall officiating. Burial will follow at North Cleveland Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. White was born on March 8, 1923, in Newton County to John Bates and Cora Busby Bates. She married Tom B. White Sr. on March 11, 1939. She was a nurse's aide until her retirement. She was a member of the Pace Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom B. White Sr.; grandson, Homer Keith Gilbert; brother, Ray Bates; and her parents, John and Cora Bates. Survivors include two sons, Tom B. White Jr. of Cleveland and John White Ocean Springs; four daughters, Kay Gilbert of Pace, Helen Woods of Oxford, Charlotte Gilbert of Nashville and Martha Prewitt of Austin, Texas; three brothers, Edward Bates of Magee, Marion Bates of Jackson and Burke Bates of Pace; a sister, Emma Knight of Vidor, Texas; 24 grand-children; 29 great-grand-children; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
