Patrick Woodrow Earnest, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. Patrick was born January 26, 1911 in Earnestville, FL to William Thomas Earnest and Bessie Hall Earnest. He was a graduate of Landon High School, Jacksonville, FL and Florida Business College. Mr. Earnest had a career as an Accountant, employed by Gilmore Jewelry and Furniture Company, and later became Treasurer and Co--owner of Marston-Quina Furniture Company. He was also involved in land development. In World War II he volunteered for service in the U.S. Navy and served as a Navy Storekeeper in the Pacific Theater on the island of Saipan. He enjoyed travelling, hiking and loved all sports, and was an avid fan of the Florida State Seminoles. Mr. Earnest was a member of East Hill Baptist Church and the Jack Wolter's Sunday School Class. Previously, he was member of the Board of Deacons and a Sunday School Teacher at Whitfield Memorial Baptist Church. He was a Master Mason at Lodge #42 and member of the Scottish Rite. Mr. Earnest was a kind and gentleman, respected and loved by all who knew him. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Mavis Buckley Earnest; sisters Bessie Mae Earnest Cobb and husband Allison Stephen Cobb, Willie Marie Earnest, and Dr. Grace E. Earnest; brothers Truman Victor Earnest, Wilbur Thomas Earnest, Hudson Hunter Earnest and wife Annie Laurie Earnest, Luttrel Lamar Earnest, nephew David Hall Cobb, and niece Joyce Earnest Carter. He is survived by sisters Wilma Irene Earnest and Myrtle Earnest Cobb and her husband Len W. Cobb; by sister-in-law Mary E. Earnest of Milton, FL; by the following nieces and nephews: Dr. Ruth Cobb Arnold, Deland, FL, Alba Cobb Chance, Allison Stephen Cobb and wife Faye, Spanish Fort, AL, William Earnest Cobb, Lamar Benjamin Cobb and wife Jeanie, Barbara Ann Martin and husband Marcus, Wilma Faye Brown, Wilbur Thomas Earnest and wife Peggy, Dr. Barry Len Cobb and wife Jeanie Dumestre, Marilyn Gayle Welch and husband Paul, Thomas Michael Carter and wife Pauline, and many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2:00pm until the Funeral Services at 3:00pm Sunday, October 12, 2008, at Harper Morris Memorial Chapel. The Reverend Rick Spencer of East Hill Baptist Church will be officiating, assisted by Rev. Jim Burkhardt. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery. Flowers will be graciously received or contributions can be made to the building fund of East Hill Baptist Church, 3960 Spanish Trail, Pensacola, FL 32504. Honorary Pallbearers will be nephews Allison Stephen Cobb, William Earnest Cobb, Lamar Benjamin Cobb, Thomas Earnest, Dr. Barry Len Cobb, and Thomas Michael Carter. The family greatly appreciates the love, support, and kindness given to Mr. Earnest by the staff of Carpenters Creek Assisted Living Community, caregivers Jessica, Verdell, and Mary, the Emerald Coast Hospice, and Dr. Regulo Calaycay and his staff. HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
