Philip S. Brandon, 79, passed away Oct. 8, 2008. Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Brandon had resided in Woodbridge, Va., moving to Virginia Beach in 1991. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Mr. Brandon served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and continued a career in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. After 20 years of service, he retired in 1966 from his last tour of duty at the White House.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Lavina M. Brandon.

Survivors include his four daughters, Lavina Resto (Louis) of Bealeton, Va., Kathy Vesey (Pete) of Virginia Beach, Grace Cook (Jim) of Nashville, N.C., and Vickie Barter (Chris) of Richmond; five siblings, Sis Kruzynski, Patty Parks, both of Pennsylvania, Ruth English, Erv Brandon and Lorraine Williams, all of Alaska; and five grandchildren, Danielle Kulawiak (Ed) of Hackettstown, N.J., Vikki Cook of Wilmington, N.C., U.S. Army Pvt. Philip Resto, Tara Resto and Ashley Resto, all of Bealeton, Va.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Whitehurst Landing Road, Virginia Beach, followed by a funeral at 2 p.m.

Interment services for Mr. and Mrs. Brandon will be in Arlington National Cemetery at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513.
