Son of Harrison and Sally Bailey. Husband to Mary Elizabeth Dillon.Floyd Edward Bailey was my great grandfather.Floyd was said to have been raised by the Gillespie family. Whether he was born a Bailey or informally taken in by Harrison and Sally Bailey is unknown.(There is no formal record of this adoption, which would be common not to have in that era. My aunts and uncles, Floyds's direct grandchildren inform me that this is a fact they learned directly, verbally from their grampa Floyd.) I am certain he is NOT the son of the Harrison Bailey and Sally Nantz that raised their family in Kentucky. I have been in direct contact with that family. The area, nor the siblings, nor the list of children match. For some reason, many people have this fact wrong on Ancestry. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Rose-Dillon-Bailey. Born to the Rose family, Mary was widowed by Mr. Dillon after a very brief marriage.(Sadly within two weeks of the wedding, Mr. Dillon was shot and killed in the woods.) Mary kept Dillon and used it on legal documents, i e the marriage records of her children as her maiden name. Floyd and Mary lived, raised their family in West Virginia. This is confirmed by the marriage records of each of their children as well as the family bible records and recollections of their many many children and grandchildren.Floyd died in West Virginia, his obituary is replete with errors, but I have attached it in the photo section. After his death one of their adult children took his wife to live in Delaware and Florida. Sadly my family lost track of her at this point. She is believed to have died in a nursing home in Florida at a very old age.

These are the children of Mary and Floyd Bailey:

William Bailey, died at age 13 August 6, 1931
Charlie Newton Bailey
Carrie Edna Bailey-Brewster
Anna May Bailey-Handshoe
Lou Emma Bailey-Rose
Valerie Bailey-Young
Coy Edward Bailey, Sr.
Bessie Geneva Bailey-Reedy

Floyd Edward (Gillespie) Bailey had one other daughter, Sally Bailey that there are no known family records of, nor photos of.
