LOCAL RESIDENTS ATTEND FUNERAL OF TROY PORCH
Mr. and Mrs. Alva Porch, Joe and Charles, and Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Stringfellow are in San Antonio to attend the funeral for a nephew, Troy Wade Porch, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Porch of Galveston.

The body arrived in San Francisco on the Honda Knot on Oct. 10. He died Nov. 12, 1943 from an attack of beri-beri in Hoten Prison Camp in Mukden, Manchuria.

He was a radio man first class. He enlisted in the Navy in 1939 and was serving with the Asiatic fleet in the Philippines when the war began. He was captured at the fall of Corregidor.

His decorations included an oak leaf cluster, fleet pin, American defense ribbon and World War II victory medal.

The body will be buried at the Military cemetery in Fort Sam Houston at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born and reared in the Midway community and attended Big Spring high school.

Survivors include the parents, one brother, Forrest, San Saba, and a half-brother, J.P. Green, Waco; two uncles, Herman and Roy Porch and an aunt, Mrs. L.G. Malone.
