Brooke S. McDonald,17, went to be with the Lord on October 4, 2008, as the result of an accidental shooting. Brooke was with a small group of friends at a party in an apartment on J. Arden May Boulevard, Plant City, when someone pulled out a .44 caliber revolver. Eventually, according to a police report, the loaded weapon found its way into the hands of a person standing near Brooke. He pointed the gun at Brooke's head, apparently not knowing it was loaded, and pulled the trigger.

Brooke loved life, boating, going to the beach, swimming, drawing, playing with children, shopping, and spending time with her family including her cousins: Shelby, Jenna Rae, Corry, Jadon, and Josh. Brooke's mother described her as an average fun-loving teenager with a "beautiful smile" that "lit up every room she walked into."

Survivors include her parents, Mitch and Barbara McDonald; sister Danielle McDonald; maternal grandmother Dondru Hart; aunt Pam Pippin and uncle Ronnie, aunt Kathi Dempsey and uncle Patrick; uncle Marc and Brenda McDonald; uncle Michael and Rebecca McDonald; aunt Selina and uncle Shelton Keely, and numerous other family members including: Speed McDonald, Marcus McDonald, Willie McDonald, Austyn McDonald, Jacob McDonald, Jay McDonald, Cayden Pippin, Hailey Pippin, Bubba Pippin and Julie Pippin.

The fammily will receive friends on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 2:00 -3:00 p.m. at the Plant City Church of God, 2103 Mud Lake Road, Plant City. A memorial service will follow at the church. There will be a graveside service at Mount Enon Cemetery, off North Frontage Road and east of Charlie Taylor Road.
