Born May 15, 1930, Miss Biggs grew upon the St. John's River in Georgetown, the daughter of the late Thomas S. and Clara B. Biggs. She graduated from Crescent City High School, where she was a standout basketball player. She attended Florida State University and eventually became a real estate broker. Miss Biggs spent her early professional years in Jacksonville, Lakeland and San Francisco. She moved to Bartow eight years ago from Stuart, where she spent 15 years in the real estate business. She continued working as a Realtor in Bartow. She attended the First Baptist Church of Bartow and was a lifelong member of Beulah Baptist Church in Georgetown. She was a volunteer with Good Shepherd Hospice.
Miss Biggs is survived by her sister, Betty Faye Stidham (Wofford), of Bartow, her brother, Kenneth L. Biggs (Teres), of Georgetown, two nieces, Kendra Therrell (Jay) of Cape Coral and Beth Biggs of Deland, and two nephews, Jeff Stidham and Jon Stidham (Joanne) of Bartow.
There will be a graveside service Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church cemetery in Georgetown with the Rev. Jay Therrell officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes may donate to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1350 E. Main St., Bartow, or the Bartow Healthcare Foundation, Mary Ellen Stidham Scholarship Fund, Box 877, Bartow, Fl.,33831.
