He grew up on a farm just outside of Harrington. He married Martie J Collins on 06/04/1938. They had no children. After her death in 1960 he never remarried and lived alone in a quaint one bedroom house in Harrington.
Emil worked as a carpenter for most of his life. At one time, he worked for Simpler Lumber Co in Felton, Delaware. He also served in the Delaware National Guard.
In his later years he was a faithful member of the Harrington Senior Center, where he had many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Hurd Fox Johnson and three brothers, William Henry Stubbs, Edgar Stubbs and Nelson Stubbs. He is survived by a brother Paul Stubbs of Harrington; and two sisters, Ruth Iva James of Georgetown and Louise Stubbs.
He was a kind and gentle person. Emil, his sister Louise (my grandmother) and I visited cemeteries researching family history. He shared many memories with us.
