Esther Rasmussen Christensen graduated from her mortal journey on Friday, October 3, 2008 in St. George, UT.

She was born to Daniel and Anne Jane Jorgensen Rasmussen in Mount Pleasant, UT on March 25, 1912 in the family home, where she has lived most of her life. She had a happy childhood and was deeply loved by brothers, D. Irvin, Lester Paul, and James Howard, her sister, Mary Rice, all of whom preceded her in death. She married her eternal sweetheart Thomas Christensen on August 27, 1957 in the St. George Temple. Although their time together was short, they shared a very special relationship filled with rock hunting, dancing, camping, fishing, pine nut gathering, parties at their home, gospel study, caring for her aging parents, and gospel service. Tom preceded her in death on March 8, 1965, leaving her a widow for 43 years. Esther was a graduate of North Sanpete High School, Snow College, and the University of Utah. She loved learning and spent 40 years teaching children in Aurora, Grantsville, Salt Lake City, Mount Pleasant, and Fairview.

She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in numerous callings including a full time mission in the Tennessee, Nashville Mission and 11 years in the Manti Temple as an ordinance worker and organist. She loved the Lord and studied the scriptures daily, memorizing many passages. Music was a big part of her life, both vocal and piano. She spent many hours doing genealogical research and was proud of her Danish heritage. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and was one of the few surviving members that was a daughter of a native pioneer. Her civic involvements included membership in and board member of the Mount Pleasant Historical Pioneer Association for 43 years and secretary and bookkeeper of the Pleasant Creek Irrigation Company for 15 years. She was a member of the Fine Arts Club, Acme Club, Literary Club and the American Association of University Women. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, cooking, doing beautiful creative handwork and traveled to many exciting places in the world.

Esther is survived by a sister-in-law, Carolyn Christensen (Elmer deceased) of Mount Pleasant, UT; a foster daughter, Lynn Jackson of White Rock, AZ; and many nieces and nephews and their children who lovingly called her "Grandma". She was preceded in death by nephew, Walter Rice; nieces, Julia Gustaveson, Karen Marie Lounsbury, and Mary Jane Blodgett. She has resided in St. George, UT where she could be close to nieces, Dorothy Thompson (Ron) and Marie Rice for the last few years.

Funeral Services will be held at the Mount Pleasant 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 49 South State Street, Mount Pleasant UT on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 12:00 noon. Friends may call at the beloved family home, 12 South 400 West from 10- 11:15 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment will take place in the Mount Pleasant City Cemetery.
