Hulyne Beatrice Winnett, born Sept. 15, 1919, died peacefully at home in Cooper at Birchwood Manor on Sept. 28, 2008.She was a loving mother and mother-in-law, a faithful wife and a wonderful grandmother and aunt. She was a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ in Greenville and was always an outstanding example of a Christian woman. She had been a ham radio operator since the 1950s and was very involved in relaying radio traffic to families at home during the Vietnam War and received many acknowledgments for her outstanding service. She was a wonderfully creative artist and created many beautiful pieces of artwork throughout her life.Survivors are her husband of 70 years, Howard Winnett of Dallas; her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Tina Winnett of Heath; granddaughter and husband Kathy and Joel Gray of Austin; a grandson, Ronald Winnett Jr. of Terrell; great-grandchildren Cord and Jordan Gary; a brother, Joe Stanfield of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.Her son, Ronald Winnett, Sr.; her parents; two sisters and one brother preceded her in death.A memorial service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Johnson Street Church of Christ in Greenville. Interment will be in Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas.Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
