DEATH RECORD INDEX from microfilm in the Clarksville Library, batch #56408

CLARKSVILLE TIMES 24 Aug 1967 '40 Years Ago' obit for wife Della S. Neathery Pittman, OBIT: THE SEMI-WEEKLY FARM NEWS, January 1935 Aged Citizen Called By Death At an early hour Sunday morning, Dec. 30, the Death Angel called and took from our midst our kindly friend and neighbor, Nathan Lawson Pittman. Nearing his ninety-first birthday, our friend was one of the county's oldest citizens. Born in MS and moving in early childhood to near Houston where he grew into manhood answering the call of the Confederacy at age 17, as did thousands of his fellow countrymen, to uphold the Southern cause. The war ended and Mr. Pittman returned home and married. Of this, his first marriage, there now survive Lawrence and Stephen Pittman of Fort Worth. Losing his wife in death, he came to RRCo TX finally settling in what is now the Dimple Community. In about 1880 he married Mrs. Della Neatherly (nee Della Holloway, child of Richard Holloway, an early pioneer settler). By a former marriage Mrs. Pittman had a son, Charles Neatherly. To this, his second marriage, there were born three children, of whom two survive, Mrs. Annie Kegley, wife of Lee Kegley, formerly of RRCo TX, now living at Munday in West Texas. James W. Pittman of Kansas City, who, with his wife, Doris and son Gerald, was present at deceased's passing. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev J. Porter Neal at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday Dec. 30 followed by burial in the family cemetery just a short distance from the home where Mr. Pittman had lived for over a half century.
