Miss Jessica Michelle Sykes, 17, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Miss Sykes was a very special young lady and a senior at North Surry High School. Jessica was born September 24, 1989, in Surry County, to Sandy Crum Sykes and Mike Sykes.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Sandy Crum Sykes and Eric Schnare of Loris, SC; her father and stepmother, Mike and Kathy Sykes of the home; three sisters, Nichole Bonitati of Waynesboro, VA, and Katie Marie Sykes and Emily Schnare, both of Loris, SC; two stepbrothers, Wesley Ross Wilson of Raleigh and Trey Johnson of Mount Airy; her maternal grandmother, Betty Crum of Myrtle Beach, SC; and her paternal grandparents, Rayburn and Geraldine Sykes of Mount Airy. Jessica was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Donald Crum.
The funeral service will be held Friday, October 20, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Sammy Lawson and the Rev. Joe Atkins. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
