John H. Miller, residing four miles west on Portage Prairie, died this morning at 11:45 o'clock, in his 79th year. Mr. Miller was a native of Lebanon county,Pennsylvania, but came here at an early day with "Buffalo" Miller(Henry B.) and his other brothers. He was an excellent man. The funeral will be held at his late residence,Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock.

South Bend Tribune: The Venerable John H. Miller, an early resident of South Bend, died on Tuesday at his home on Portage Prairie, about four miles west of Niles, and was buried at Buchanan this afternoon. The deceased was the oldest brother of ex-Mayor(William)Miller and Mr. Joseph Miller, of the firm of Miller and Lontz. He came to South Bend with them and with the late Hon.H.B. Miller and lived here several years before going to Michigan. He was born in Lebanon county,Pa. Both here and in Michigan he was greatly respected.
