William was the son of Samuel Nelson and Alice Elizabeth (Patterson) Allred. He married Flossie King Folgeman in 1920 and they were the parents of two children: Alfred Nelson and Bette Sue.

MT. AIRY, Nov. 5 - William Taylor Allred, 50, of this city died at 9 a.m. today at the local hospital following a lingering illness. He was born in Surry County. Allred was manager and member of the firm of the Thompson Furniture Company. Funeral will be held at Central Methodist Church, of which he was an active member, Monday at 3 p.m. by Rev. A. C. Waggoner, Members of Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge, of which he was a past muster, will have charge of the rites at the grave in Oakdale Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Flossie Fogleman; one son, Capt. Nelson Allred of the Army, stationed at Dayton, Ohio; one daughter, Mrs. Jimmie Terry of Sanford; his mother, Mrs. Alice Allred of Austin, Tex.; three brothers, Charles, Roger, and Sam Allred of Austin, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Walter Poore of Mt. Airy, Mrs. Will A. Jones o Lewisville, and Mrs. Henry Hauser of Austin, Tex.; and one grandchild.
