Hayes in Gold Beach in 1889, she was only 14 years old. Wallace died in 1899. After 10 years of marriage, they had five children together. Three years later, Lydia married Asa Ballard Carey, and they had 1 child. After 7 years of marriage, Lydia divorced Asa and married Christian Henery Koerner. They had two children together. Christian died just after five years of marriage. Lydia then married Antonio Canino, and he died less than a year after being married. They had no children together. She reverted back to her Koerner name after Antonio Canino died.
