KAREN MARIE DOWNS
Karen Marie Downs, Age 55, died unexpectedly of a brain aneurysm at Avera McKennan hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Monday, October 8, 2000.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2000, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton with Reverend Nancy Hong officiating assisted by Kendall Stelter. Burial will be held at the Diamond Lake Cemetery near Lake Benton. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. Weiland Funeral Chapel in Madison, South Dakota is in charge of the arrangements.

Karen Vaughn was born at Flandreau, South Dakota, on September 15, 1945. She grew up near Colman, South Dakota, graduating from Ruthland High School. She married Milo Downs in Rural Colman, South Dakota, on November 3, 1962. They moved to Lake Benton in 1969. Karen worked as an Administrative Assistant for Enron Wind in Lake Benton. Karen loved her family, people, babies, and especially music and dancing.

She is survived by her husband, Milo, of Lake Benton; one daughter, Marci leDowns of Owatonna, Minnesota; one son, Jeffrey Wayne Downs o Medford, Minnesota; one brother, Douglas Vaughn of Brookings, south Dakota; one sister, Colleen Callies of Bloomington, Minnesota; and her mother, Mildred Vaughn of Estelline, South Dakota.

Karen was preceded in death by her father. Wayne Vaughn.
