The following is the text of an unprovenienced newspaper clipping of an obituary for Catherine "Katie" Stout Hill (1844-1878):

OBITUARY

HILL—Died of congestion of the brain at the residence of her husband in Palo Alto, Clay County, Mississippi, on Thursday morning August 29th 1878, Mrs. Katie S. Hill, wife of William H. Hill, Esq.
Words are not fitting to express the terrible loss that the family and friends of the above have sustained in her death. She was a kind, loving wife, tender, and affectionate mother, and a true friend and neighbor. Her loss is most severely felt throughout the entire community and a very large concourse of friends attended her to the grave, in attestation of their love and respect. Mrs. Katie S. Hill was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on the 29th of June, 1844, and is the daughter of R.T. and C.T. Hill, late of that city. In her early girlhood she gave herself up to God, and was a pious and consistent member of the Presbyterian Church. In the fall of 1865 she came to Mississippi, and lived in the family of her uncle and aunt, Dr. and Mrs. D.B. Hill. In 1867 she united with the Christian Church, in which she was a zealous member until her death. On the 16th of June, 1868, she was married to Wm. H. Hill, Esq[.], and has resided at Palo Alto ever since. She leaves her husband heart-broken, and three sweet little girls to mourn her untimely end. May the good Lord be with them in their affliction, and may they so live as to meet the wife and mother on the blissful shore. She was buried at the Christian Church, near Palo Alto. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Murrah, pastor of the Methodist Church in West Point, in a most beautiful and impressive manner.
