OBITUARY

Anthony Rice

Lisbon, February 12, -- Special -- Anthony Rice, a prominent farmer of Wayne township died at 9 o'clock last evening at his home six miles south of Lisbon. He had been a sufferer from kidney trouble for a long time but his condition became serious only a week ago Sunday evening, when he had hemorrhages.

Mr. Rice was born in Wayne township upward of 70 years ago, a son of Jacob and Charity Rice, and had spent his entire life in that township. He was twice married, his first wife having been a Miss (Margaret A.) Hill, by whom he is survived by two children Ellsworth E. Rice (Jacob Ellsworth Rice) and Mrs. Ida McClurg, of Highlandtown. His second wife, who was formerly Mrs. Nancy Williams, survives him with three children, John and James, of Salineville, and Frank, of Millport. The following brothers and sisters also survive him: George Rice, near Columbiana; Baker Rice, near Calcutta; Wesley Rice, in Michigan; Henry A Rice, in Western Pennsylvania; Mrs. Luke Englemyer (Anglemyer), near Columbiana; Mrs. David Patterson, of Wayne township; Mrs. Richard Farmer, of Fairfield township, and Mrs. Jud Whitacre, north of Lisbon.

Funeral services will be held Thursday. Friends will meet at the house at 10 o'clock in the morning and proceed to Bethel church in Wayne township, of which church he was a member, where services will be conducted by the pastor, Rev. Henry C. Foster. Internment will be in the church cemetery.
