Alexander Farkas was born in Homokszentgyorgy, Somogy County, Barcs District, Hungary as son to Alexander "Sandor" Farkas and Anna Maczki Farkas (from Trojeglava, Pozega, Hungary). At the time of his birth, Homokszentgyorgy had a Reformed church, but not a Catholic church. In order to have their children baptized Catholic, the parents traveled 10 km (6 miles) to the nearby town of Szulok; birth records were also found in Gaj records when his mother's death was recorded.

It seems like his parents, at one time were in Somogy County in Hungary, then eventually settled in Pozsega County, Hungary.

Alexander married twice, the first time to Rozalia Gocza, and the second time, as a widower to Mary Nagy.
In 2008, researcher, Joseph Esterreicher supplied the following birth-record information from microfilm on Alexander from his mother's death record:

From hand written notes for Gaj church records LDS film #2120445

The _ before / indicates that there was no place of origin given. Place of death,
Hrastovac, Sandor Farkas was the spouse, Rk means Roman Catholic. I read her age as 62 but I am not sure.

. . . The births of the 3 Farkas children above came from the Szulok, Hungary chuch records."
Microfilm marriage records found by Croatian researcher, Sanja Frigan Ciuha:

From parish Dezanovac:
Births: 1886, 1894-1898
Weddings: 1905-1916
Deaths: 1897-1949

"On Jun 5, 1904 were married Sandor Farkas ( b. on Nov 15, 1880 in Szt. Gyorgy in Hungary to parents Sandor Farkas and Ana Matzki), Sandor was waggon-maker, and he lived in Trojeglava ) and Rozalija Gocza (her parents belong to evangelic reformator church).

Parish of Marriage took place in Dezanovac Parish: In deaths from 1897-1949... I didn't find any children from this marriage.

Note: The birth records found in Szulok recorded Alexander's birth as November 15, 1880, while records in the US recorded his birth as December 15, 1880. These types of conflicts often occur, as sometimes the handwriting was poor or the language was difficult to translate.
Around 1905 Alexander came to the US, then sent for his bride. By this marriage he had four children:

1. Rose, born Aug. 25, 1907 in Beaver Falls, PA; Rose married Herman Henry Hunger.
2. Margaret, born Feb. 01, 1909 in Conway, PA; Margaret married Jerry A. B. Post.
3. Anna, born Jun. 25, 1912 in South Bend, IN; Anna married Leo J. Deka.
4. Alex Jr., born Jul. 30, 1913 in South Bend, IN; Alex Jr. married Sophia Mocello.
After Rozalia died, Alexander Farkas married widower, Mary (Fuzy) Nagy; there were no children by this marriage.
