Funeral Mass for Phyllis L. Barber, 89, Lawton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. James D.M. Stafford, pastor, and Herman Lawrence, deacon, officiating.

Mrs. Barber died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, in Lawton.

Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

She was born Dec. 13, 1918, in Oklahoma City, to Stewart H. and Phoebe Muratet Lyons. She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School. She attended Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo. and attended Oklahoma University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She married George Winchel Barber June 15, 1939, in Oklahoma City. He died May 1, 1987. She was a homemaker and a member of the Entre Nous Organization, the Junior League and Chapter I of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was a former president of the Lawton Philharmonic Women's Association and a former member of the board of directors of The Museum of the Great Plains. She was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Alumni and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen H. and Margaret G. Barber, Andorra; two daughters and sons-in-law: Teresa and Gary Karrer, Overland Park, Kan.; and Elizabeth King and Mike Raffetto, Keller, Texas; a sister, Mary Frances Danley, Little Rock, Ark.; seven grandchildren: G. Trent Barber, Colleyville, Texas; Kathryn A. Hesskew and her husband, Jason, Edom, Texas; James S. Barber, Lawton; Mason Karrer and his wife, Leslie, Atlanta; Julie Kleva and her husband, Johan, Durango, Colo.; Arielle King, currently studying in Japan; and Jonathan W. King, Keller, Texas; two great-grandchildren: Harper Ann Hesskew and Lark Muratet Hesskew; and a close friend, Leonardo D. Greco, Lawton.
