NILES - Leo J. Deka, 81, of Shady Shore Drive, died at 11:40 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mr. Deka retired in 1976 from Bendix Corp., South Bend, as a tool and die grinder after 36 years of service. He was born July 23, 1914, in South Bend and had lived in Niles since 1954. On June 5, 1935, in South Bend, he married Anna Farkas. She survives with three daughters, Roseann Taelman of South Bend, Carol Mendenhall of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Christine Curran of Phoenix; a son, Donald D. of Suwanee, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 9.
