CAZENOVIA - Louise G. Rockweiler Carney, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and 44 year resident of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., was at her home when she entered peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003. She was 84. Louise was born March 17, 1919, in Cazenovia, Wis., to John and Catherine Rockweiler, as the fifth of eleven children. After 37 years of family farm work, raising younger siblings, playing church organ and dance-band piano, and bookkeeping at the local creamery, Louise moved to New York City. There she took a position as executive secretary to the President of Mark Cross, and subsequently met and married Richard Carney. Louise and Dick moved to Greenwood Lake in 1959. Shortly thereafter they created the Richard E. Carney Music Corporation, enjoying several top ten hits. Louise served as an officer of the corporation for over forty years. After raising three daughters, Louise put her bookkeeping skills to work again for Mel Pontiac in Warwick, and later for the Greenwood Lake School District. In addition to being an avid gardener, she was organist at the Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake for the past 38 years, as well as the Grace Lutheran Church in Greenwood Lake for the past 11 and a half years. Family members speak of Louise as "an amazing lady, who was the personification of strength, commitment, dedication to family, selflessness, love, and getting the most out of everything and every moment in life! We will continue to be forever grateful for the gift Louise has been in our lives and for our cherished memories of her." Louise is survived by a brother, Robert Rockweiler, of North Potomac, Md.; three daughters, Kathleen Noar and husband, Roger of Anacortes, Wash., Kristeen Carney Witmer and her husband, Rob, of St. Augustine, Fla., and Kolleen Attonito and husband, Christopher, of Concord, Mass.; five grandchildren, Stephani Noar, Jennifer Noar, Casey Attonito, Ryan Attonito, and Alyssa Attonito; as well as many nieces, nephews, and their offspring. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rockweiler; her mother and father; and nine sisters and brothers, Hilda Compton, Mary Hager Gandolph, Raymond Rockweiler, Herbert Rockweiler, Adeline Rockweiler, Frederick Rockweiler, Carl Rockweiler, Conrad Rockweiler, and Bernice Rockweiler. A Mass of Christian Burial for Louise G. Carney will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at ST. ANTHONYS CATHOLIC CHURCH in Germantown with Father Andre' Panek officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac.
