Son of John Conrad and Barbara (Funkhouser) Hottel. Levi first married Mary Pitman, daughter of David and Mary Ann (Aucherman) Pitman, in 1841. She died 1851 and is buried in Pitman Cemetery. Levi then married Christiana Snider, daughter of John and Catherine (Pitman) Snider in 1853. Mary and Christiana were 2nd cousins.
