Known as "Pick" to his friends, he played professional golf and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2006.

His major victories included winning two major Championships, the Masters Tournament in 1938 and the PGA in 1939.

His victories also included winning both singles and one of two doubles when he played on Ryder Cup Teams in 1935 and 1939

Picard's best year came in 1939, when he won eight tournaments and was the Tour's leading money winner.

He retired in 1973.
