Elda Naomi Roberts Ethington, 89, a longtime Casa Grande resident, died Oct. 16, 2005.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Casa Grande. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Mrs. Ethington was born June 15, 1916 in Bellefonte, Arkansas, and was a daughter of Bart and Lillie Roberts. She moved to Arizona in 1926 and attended Casa Grande Union High School.

She met her sweetheart, Chester "Chet" Ethington, at Calvary Baptist Church, and they were married in 1932. During their 73 years of marriage they enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their summer home in Greer and more recently in Prescott.

Among her favorite memories were 25th and 50th anniversary trips to Alaska and Hawaii. Their 72nd anniversary was honored with a special celebration at The Garnet at Casa Grande.

She appreciated her First Presbyterian Church family. She enjoyed her years teaching Sunday school and serving in the Woman's Missionary Union at both Calvary and Trinity Southern Baptist churches.

She was a past worthy matron of Casa Grande Chapter 28, Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Ronnie Ethington; a daughter, DiAne Ashton; 14 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Shirley Crosby and JoAnn Ashburn; two sisters, Ruth Parks and Lotha Evans; two brothers, Bill and Paul Roberts; a half-brother, E.J. Roberts; and a half-sister, Sis Starkey.
