JOHN E. ATKINSON

Funeral services for John E. Atkinson, a printer and a book binding salesman for some 55 years, will be held today at 1 P.M. at the Schimunek funeral establishment, 3331 Brehms lane.
Mr. Atkinson who was 78, died Saturday at the Charles Manor nursing home after a five month illness. He had resided at 3527 Elmlev avenue.
Born in Baltimore, he served with a trench mortar battery of the Rainbow Division during World War I.
Before entering the Army, Mr. Atkinson had joined the Albrecht Company, a printing and bookbinding firm. He returned to work as a salesman after the war and worked there 50 years. In 1965 he went into semi-retirement by working as a commission salesman for the B.C. Lucas and Sons.
He was a member of the Baltimore Printing House of Craftsmen and for 25 years of the Ten Hills Men's Bowling League, the American Turners of Baltimore, Inc., and the X Pleasure Club.
Mr. Atkinson is survived by a fiancée, Mrs. Elsie D. Kraft, of Baltimore. They had planned to marry before Christmas. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth E. Drummer, of Catonsville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Provenza, of Towson, and four grandchildren
