Melba was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Claude Louis and Myrl (Westbrook) Carter. She attended school in the Waco area and on July 5, 1939, she married Joseph Louis Melasky in Waco. She was a member of the Stonebridge United Methodist Church in McKinney, Texas. Melba was a loving wife, mother, and the love and the light of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Melasky in 1964; brother, Bubba Carter; sister, Opal Parks; granddaugther, Maecy; and great-grandson, Patrick.
She is survived by her daughters, Anita Myrl Vrba, of Palmer, Texas, Linda Jo Halyard and husband, Buddy, of Quinlan, Texas,and Cindy Lewis and husband, Curtis, of Blue Ridge, Texas; son, Gregory Louis Melasky and wife, Ann, of Forney, Texas; grandchildren, Gary, Daryle, Diane, Katrina, Kim, Kerrie, Jimbo, Kelly, Karl, Penni, Becky, Russell, Mindy and Kristy; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Parks, of Waco; brother, C.W. Carter, of Waco; sister-in-law, Nita Carter, of Waco; many nieces, nephews and other family members and numerous friends.
