He married first Lavica Jane Cox 18 March 1847 Anderson County, Tennessee. They had 8 children. She was born 1828 Knox County, Tennessee. She died before 1870 Anderson County, Tennessee. Her father was John Cox and her mother, Alice "Alsie" (Gammon) Cox.
