Mrs. Betty Shiver Beach, 81, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., passed away at the family residence Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008.

She was born Dec. 6, 1926, in Panama City, Fla., a daughter of Ezekiel Nixon Shiver and Florence Simmons Shiver. Most will remember Betty in her employment with Florida Division of Children and Family Services and later with the Cope Center, where she worked for 33 years between the two state agencies.

Betty loved life, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was predeceased by a son, Sidney Nixon Beach; and a sister, Elizabeth Shiver Eubanks. Among survivors are her children, Val (Vivian) Beach, Michael Beach Sr., Dorothy Beach (Marty) Flack and Sidney Beach. Her sister, Mary Spence; grandchildren, Corey, Micha, Michael Jr., Justin and Nicholas; and six great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, Oct. 3, 2008, in the Jerry Evans Funeral Home Chapel in DeFuniak Springs. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, in the Jerry Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Chumley officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Lynn Haven Cemetery.
