Mr. Gordon, 86, died of heart failure Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Golden Age Nursing Home.
Mr. Gordon was born in Drew. He was a retired farmer and a Baptist. He served in the Army during World War II and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Nelms Gordon, and sons David Gordon, Robert William Gordon and Danny Gordon.
He is survived by four daughters, Clara Walker of Phil Cambell, Ala., Polly Ann Peters of Phoenix, Ariz., Elizabeth Ann Gordon of Pulaski, Tenn., and Jane G. Wells of Vicksburg; three sons, Gerald Dewitt Gordon of Phil Cambell, Ala., Samuel C. Gordon of Greenwood and Donny Ray Gordon of Phoenix; a sister, Beulah Miller of Olive Branch; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Sam Cobb will officiate at the services.
Employees of Golden Age Nursing Home will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Burial will be in Greensboro Cemetery in Webster County.
