Arthur Tebbs Nicholls, 66, died at his home in Cowley on the weekend of Sept. 14, 2008.

He was born on May 29, 1942, in Las Vegas, but grew up in Cowley. He graduated from Cowley High School in 1960. He was involved in student body activities and was active in sports, pretty good but not great. He went to college in Powell where he was known as "the fun kid."

In 1963 he married Cara Ostler of Lovell. In 1968 he graduated in the top 10 percent of his class at the University of Utah Law School and moved to Reno, Nev. He realized that he did not like being a lawyer and bought a hammer and went to work as a carpenter. He moved to Sheridan, where he and Cara built houses, doing all the work themselves.

In 1982 they divorced and he moved back to Reno and married his high school classmate Sidney Wilson Seibel. He adopted her daughter Nicole. They divorced four years later.

He worked for the Reno City Attorney and then for the Washoe County District Attorney, where he was the legal advisor to several county departments. After two terms (eight years) a new District Attorney was elected and, as is normal practice, the new District Attorney replaced many of the attorneys. He married Karen McClain and took an early retirement with a lifetime pension. He bought run down houses and fixed them up and sold them. They divorced and he moved back to Cowley for a couple of years. He moved back to Reno where he worked in apartment maintenance and got a real estate salesman's license.

He decided to move back to Cowley and officially retired. He was not active in the church (LDS) but lived a Christian life. He was friendly and went out of his way to help people.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Aaron Nicholls. He is survived by his mother, Vivian Tebbs Nicholls Robertson; step-father Rob Robertson; brothers Robert and wife Ann and Duane and wife Sharron; sister Naoma Nicholls; son Anthony and wife Kristina; daughter Lisa; grandchildren Marisa, Merit, Makenzie and Coy; several nieces and nephews and several step-brothers and step-sisters.

Art wrote this obituary and would like to be remembered as a really nice man who never cheated anyone and tried to help other people.

Cremation has taken place and interment was at the Cowley Cemetery.
