September 9, 1987--Howard M. Frye, 78, of Blackwell died Sunday at 5:58 pm in Balckwell Nursing Home. His funeral is scheduled for 2 pm Wednesday in Memory Chapel of Hackler-Porter Funeral Home. Rev. Joe Dwinnell, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the local IOOF Cemetery.

Mr. Frye was born 8 Oct 1908 on a farm near Chouteau, the son of George and Sarah Frye. He received his later education and was raised in Arizona and New Mexico. He was employed in the early years in southwestern Oklahoma oil fields.

He married Alta Courtney August 3, 1934 in Waurika, OK. They first came to Blackwell in 1937 and he was employed by the city Water Department through the early 1940s. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

He was employed by Standard Oil of New Jersey from 1949 to 1953 when he retired and moved back to Blackwell. Mr. Frye is survived by his wife, Alta, of the home at 503 East College; a son, Robert Frye of Perry and two grandchildren.
