Bob was one of the most popular midget drivers on the west coast. Bob had won the AAA Pacific Coast Championship in 1939 and the NMA Championship in 1935. Bob twice won the "Turkey Night Grand Prix" at Gilmore Stadium in Los Angeles (1934 & 1938) and, in 1939, won the "Gold Cup" race at the same track. Bob took part in three Indianapolis 500's.
Bob was injured while qualifying for a midget event at Toledo, Ohio on June 12th, 1940, and died at 5:37 am the next morning at Community Hospital in nearby Perrysville, Ohio.
Bob has been inducted into the National Midget Racing Hall of Fame.
