COPE: Gary M. Cope, 67, of Goose Creek , the husband of Margaret "Peggy" Cope, died on Thursday, June 24, 2004 at a local hospital. Born on August 27, 1937, in Clairton , Pennsylvania , he was the son of the late Maynard Bert Cope and Melva Irene Everett Cope. Mr. Cope retired after 20 years from the United States Navy having served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired as a supervisor from the Lockheed Missile Polaris Base, POMFLANT. Mr. Cope was an avid outdoorsman and a great automobile mechanic. He attended Ashley River Church of God, Dorchester Road , Charleston . He will be deeply missed by his wife Peggy; son: Gary D. Cope of Goose Creek ; three brothers: Howard Bert Cope and James William Cope both of Pennsylvania and Robert Allan Cope of Hawaii ; two sisters: Patty Shimp and Marleen Supernovich both of Pennsylvania . He was preceded in death by his daughter Rhonda Cope. The family will receive friends from 2-4PM on Sunday, June 27th at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL, 100 S. Goose Creek Blvd. , (Hwy 52) Goose Creek . The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 28th at 12PM in the chapel of McAlister-Smith Funeral Home.
