________________
In June 1926, Uncle Frank Hefner had been visiting his children at Spur, Abilene and then to Breckenridge to visit with his son, Thomas Hefner who is tax assessor of Stephens County and to be at the annual picnic at Eliasvillve where he has been in regular attendance each year since the Old Settlers' Reunion was first held on the Clear Fork. Uncle Frank came to Hunt County, Texas when a small boy and lived there until he was married to Miss Matilda Key in the early 1870s. In 1870, he moved to Stephens County and settled on Peach Creek, four miles south of Eliasville.

Frank Hefner was the best man many people in Eliasville ever knew. He was always to be depended upon in sickness, or in trouble. He was as true as a friend could be. We did not have any doctors close in Eliasville, but Frank was not only a nurse but his judgment was good on our old fireside remedies, and he was there to stay through one's sickness. He shot more deer and turkey than any man in the area. It was not uncommon to see Frank bring over a quarter of a deer or a gobbler to those in need.

Frank was a member of the Methodist Church and his home was always open to the preachers of Eliasville, regardless of their denomination who came to preach to us. He was a quiet and peaceable man and every man in Eliasville was his friend.

Mr. Hefner was a member of the Presbyterian Church while living in the Eliasville area.
