The 1850 census shows William H. Bradford at ten years of age at home in Hendersonville with his father and mother but William's situation changed drastically by the mid 1850s with the death of his father in 1854 and mother in 1855. By the 1860 census, William H. Bradford at age 20 is shown living with his older brother, the attorney, George Grant Bradford and his family, in Goodletsville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, but he is soon to be out on his own.

William married Sarah Frances Jones, the daughter of Alvin Jones of Wayne Co., Kentucky, on June 24, 1868 in Wayne Co., Kentucky. By 1870, William H. Bradford is a merchant and farmer in Mill Springs, Wayne Co., Kentucky and has a one year old son, Harry Milton Bradford.

In 1880, William H. is only listed as a farmer in District 1, Pulaski Co., Kentucky. He is 39 and Sarah is 30 years old. They now have five children. We are not sure what happened over the next few years, further complicated by the 1890 census being destroyed, but the family moved to Lamar Co., Texas, by about 1884 where by the 1900 census, the family is located in Justice Precinct 7 of Lamar County. William H. Bradford, now 60 years old, lists himself as a farmer.

The 1910 Census for Part of Precinct 1, Hunt Co., Texas is the last showing William H Bradford and Sarah. They are 70 and 60 respectively. Their son Oliver, 21, a mail carrier, is the only one living with them. William died June 1, 1915 in Greenville, Hunt Co., Texas. Sarah died 17 November 1917 in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., Texas (where several of their children lived). Both are buried in East Mount Cemetery, Greenville, Hunt Co., Texas.
