AUSTIN -- Jeanne Adele Schneider, 81, of Austin died on Sept. 30, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
Jeanne was born Aug. 3, 1927 in Austin to Mark and Adele (Wengert) Fink. On Jan. 7, 1947 she was united in marriage to John O. Schneider at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin.
Jeanne lived all her life in Austin and she was a friend to many. She was the loving matriarch of the Schneider clan. Jeanne loved to play cards and she loved to sing. She traveled to many places, she spent many vacations with her family, she loved to laugh and she enjoyed life.
Survivors include her children: Nancy (Roger) Reader, Onalaska, Wis., Linda (George) Pulchinski, Austin, John (Christine) Schneider, Green Bay, Wis., Mark (Jayne) Schneider, Apple Valley, Minn., Jeff (Kerry) Schneider, Farmington, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John, on Jan. 22, 1992.
Her motto to live by was, "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, latte in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ‘Woo hoo, what a ride!'"
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. There will be a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and a 7 p.m. wake service on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4-8 p.m. and also from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The honorary casketbearers will be Ryan Reader, Mitch Schneider, Amanda Schneider, Kelly Schneider, Ben Schneider, Matt Schneider and Courtney Schneider. The casketbearers will be Jason Reader, Adam Pulchinski, Bethany Pulchinski, Andy Schneider, Dan Schneider and Josh Schneider.
