And a resident of Franklinton died at 7:30 PM Tuesday, September 30, 2008 in an automobile accident.
He was an Assistant District Attorney for the 22nd Judicial District Attorney's Office. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church where he served as chairman. He was a choir member and Sunday School Teacher; he also served as Moderator of the Washington Parish Baptist Association.
Survived by: Wife: Denise Womble Gatewood of Franklinton, 4 Sons and a daughter in law: Byron Joseph and Ashley Gatewood of Fort Riley, KS, MacKensey Neil Gatewood of Franklinton, Brennon Chesley Gatewood, Cameron Bryce Gatewood both of Franklinton, 1 Daughter: Emily Grace Gatewood of Franklinton, 1 Granddaughter: Aubrey Joy Gatewood of Fort Riley, KS, Mother: Betty Jo Wallace Gatewood of Franklinton, 1 Sister: Jo Beth Gatewood of Enon
He was preceded in death by his father James Aubrey Gatewood.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home from 5 PM until 9 PM Thursday, October 2, 2008. Visitation will continue after 9 AM Friday, October 3, 2008 at First Baptist Church with the funeral service to be held at 11 AM at the church with Rev. Luther Stanford and Dr. Joe Baugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunlight Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Louisiana Baptist Childrens Home in Monroe.
