Mrs. Carolyn Delores Ruff-Thompson, departed this life on Monday, September 29, 2008.

Delores was well-known in the Richmond area and nationwide as a sensational singer and missionary evangelist.

Delores led the nationally-acclaimed Awakening Echoes Gospel Singers of Richmond for almost 30 years. After leaving the group, she joined the Seventh-day Adventist denomination and began her discipleship work with the Allegheny East Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pine Forge, PA. There she attained the position of minister of discipleship and continued her soul-saving work over the length and breadth of the country.

She leaves to mourn, her devoted and loving husband, Raymond Thompson; stepdaughter, Janeequa Turner; stepson, Raymond Thompson Jr.; sister, Evelyn R. Pittman; brother, Donald I. Ruff (Madelaine); sisters-in-law, Ann Ruff (Nathaniel Jr., deceased) and Geraldine Brown; brother-in-law, Rev. Shadrack Brown; five nephews, among them, one devoted, Chris; four nieces; and a host of cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, and numerous friends in the area and across the country.

Remains rested at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St., where viewing began Thursday, October 2, 2008, 4pm to 8pm, and Friday, October 3, 2008, 9am to 8pm. Funeral services Sunday, October 5, 2008, at 2pm at Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3700 Midlothian Tnpk. Body laid in state one hour prior to the service, Dr. Errol Stoddart officiated, Dr. Gene Donaldson, eulogist. Interment Maury Cemetery (Monday, October 6, 2008).
