Audrey M. (Goines) Stephens, 82, 309 West 8th Ave., went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Friday, September 26, 2008, at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Claude F. and Carrie Goines.
She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and a graduate of Langston High School. Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Nathaniel Stephens, two sons, Gary Stephens and Randy Stephens, a daughter, Veta (Stephens) Thompson, a sister, Shirley Fox and two brothers, Claude F. Goines, Jr. and Bobby Goines.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Jo Ann Dockery, Flint, MI, Sandra Stephens and Carolyn Fain, Johnson City, TN, three sons, Jackie (Jan) Stephens, Elizabethton, TN, Ronnie (Vanessa) Stephens and Leon (Polly) Stephens, Johnson City, TN, a brother, Paul (Joyce) Goines, Johnson City, TN a sister-in-law, Virginia Goines, Johnson City, TN, twenty grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Friday, October 3, 2008, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 810 Montgomery St. with Pastor Charles Martin officiating. Burial to follow at Washington County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 PM, Thursday, October 2, 2008, at Birchette Mortuary and at other times at the residence.
