CEDARBLUFF - George W. Tribble, 83, died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. He was born July 23, 1922 in Clay County to the late Maggie Beiswinger Tribble and John Williamson Tribble and was retired from West Point Casket Company and a cattle farmer. He was a member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church where he was a deacon for many years as well as serving in other church positions. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving as a radio operator during World War II in the Philippines under Gen. Douglas MacArthur.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Middleton officiating assisted by Bro. R. C. Bryan. Burial will be in the Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery near Cedarbluff.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Frances Tribble of Cedarbluff, whom he married June 19, 1948 in West Point; four sons, John David Tribble and wife, Paulette, of Aberdeen, Carey Brian Tribble, George Richard Tribble and Michael Dewayne Tribble, all of Cedarbluff; seven grandchildren, Bridget Adams, Heather Sternaley, Kimberly Wright, Erick Tribble, Shannah Tribble, Stephan Tribble and Tristan Tribble; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Earl Tribble and wife, Dot, of West Point.

Pallbearers will be Scott O'Brian, Jerry Boman, Jim McIlwain, Billy Houlk, Steve Tribble, Cliff Watkins, Doug Jennings and Jeff Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be former co-workers from West Point Casket Company and members of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
