GREEN Jessica Michelle Green, 27, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2007. She was born August 18, 1980 in Jacksonville, Florida and was a lifelong resident. Jessica is survived by: her parents, Helen Green and Gerald (JoAnn) Green; brother, Bryan (Stacy) Green; step-sister, Dara (John) Grizzard; grandparents, Zahara Joseph, William C. Green, and Myrle Imogene Green; aunts, Bonnie (Keith) Spence, Josie Joseph, Aggie Joseph, and Brenda (Jeff) Merritt; uncles, Sammy (Marianne) Joseph and Wayne (Michelle) Green; cousins, Jeff (Nieves) Joseph, Ibai Joseph, Jenny (Jim) Lawler, Tracy Surles, Zach Surles, Jason Surles, Stephen Carey, Sean Carey, Tyler Merritt, Jeffrey Merritt, Danielle Merritt, Kaleigh Merritt, Corey Green, Jill Green, and Kayla Green; niece and nephew, Jaycie and Evan Grizzard; friends, Catherine Neely, Jackie Wright, Deborah Brown, Carolyn Martinez, Tiffany Martin, Kim Nofal, Robyn Reaves, and Nicole Jordan. Jessica was preceded in death by her grandfather, William T. Joseph and cousins, Thomas Nye Surles III and Christiana Marie Spence. Jessica graduated from Edward H. White High School in 1999 where she was a member of the J.V. and Varsity slow-pitch and fast-pitch softball teams. Her extracurricular activities involved cycling, basketball, and kenpo karate, where she earned her yellow belt. She was also a member of a bowling team with the Jax Blast Youth League. Jessica was a volunteer at the Webb Center where she helped the disabled reach their goals while achieving her own. She participated in the Webb Center's annual River Roll, Walk, and Run by rollerblading the 3-mile course. She was affiliated with the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, and was briefly enrolled in a program at Hope Haven. As an animal-lover, Jessica enjoyed working part-time at the San Jose Animal Hospital. She was featured in the Southside edition of the River City News section of the Florida Times-Union regarding her interaction with Webster, a disabled dog who belonged to the Webb Center. In 1999, former Jacksonville Mayor John Delaney recognized Jessica with a ceremony. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 26, 2007, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Chapel located on Normandy Blvd. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church located on Atlantic Blvd. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery located on Main St.
